Wolfgang Hohlbein, am 15. August 1953 in Weimar geboren, lebt mit seiner Frau Heike und seinen sechs Kindern, umgeben von einer Schar Katzen, Hunde und anderer Haustiere, in der Nähe von Neuss. Mitte der fünfziger Jahre kam Hohlbeins Familie in den Westen und schlug ihr Domizil in Krefeld auf.
